Lunch & Learn – The Community Grocer

June 11 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm AEST

Join us for a Lunch & Learn Workshop
Thursday 11 June | 11:30am – 1:30pm
(Workshop 11:30am–1:00pm, lunch provided until 1:30pm)

We warmly invite you to an engaging Lunch & Learn exploring community-led approaches to healthy, affordable food access. Lunch will be provided by Djambana Catering, an Aboriginal-led social enterprise.

Hear from Georgia Savage, CEO of The Community Grocer – a not-for-profit social enterprise working since 2014 to strengthen local food systems in low-income communities. Learn how their vibrant fresh food markets across Melbourne create welcoming spaces where people from all backgrounds can connect, socialise, and support one another.

We’ll also share insights into how The Community Grocer model has been adapted in other areas, including findings from a study exploring its potential in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region.

This is an action-oriented workshop. Alongside learning about the model, we’ll work together to explore how it could add value locally and support community food initiatives in our region.

About Georgia: Georgia has been involved with The Community Grocer in a range of roles since 2014, and as CEO since 2022. She believes deeply in the power of food to connect people, and has seen first hand how access to fruit and vegetables via vibrant, engaging neighbourhood markets can create change. Georgia’s background is in public health, and she has worked in the not-for-profit sector for nearly 20 years.

This Lunch & Learn is presented by the Community Food Innovation Action Group, led by the Frankston Social Enterprise & Innovation Hub, and part of The Community Plate Food Strategy – a proud VicHealth Local Partnership for Food First.
