We are inviting all local producers who sell fresh or freshly made food and drinks (excluding alcohol) across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region to join us in a discussion around food surplus.
This project has been created as a response to discussions between members of The Community Plate and the Mornington Peninsula Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy Taskforce. The Suprlus to Market Project aims to:
– Learn from local producers about the experiences and challenges of food surplus,
– Explore new distribution/sales avenues for food surplus, &
– Provide benefits for producers and our community by increasing the availability and affordability of fresh local food.
For the purpose of this project we are interested in food surplus – meaning food that is edible but does not leave the farm gate or does not make it far along the supply chain (this is distinct from food waste, which is concerned with the end of the supply chain).
We thank you for considering having input via an online survey and/or a future Discussion Group.

Many thanks, on behalf of The Community Plate and the Mornington Peninsula Food Economy and Agroecology Strategy Taskforce.
