Understanding Healthy Eating Workshops
The health of our community is of the utmost importance for the prosperity of our region. Nearly two-thirds of Australian adults are now overweight or obese and these trends are on the rise. The obesogenic physical, economic, political and sociocultural environments in which we live are driving these trends.
Across August and October 2018, the Community Plate undertook two system model-building workshops to help us better understand healthy eating and its surrounding context in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region.
Hosted by the Community Plate Leadership Group and facilitated by Deakin University’s Global Obesity Centre, the workshops focused on unpacking healthy eating in our local community. Over these sessions a range of diverse stakeholders joined the conversation about understanding our local food system and how we can work together to improve the healthy eating outcomes for our community.
